Tzvi's Very Special Upsherin Portrait

I had this idea for I don't know... a year I think...I didn't want to do
the typical upsherin portrait for Tzvi and I thought of this idea for a photo and loved it.
This photo, now in a 20x24 canvas in my dining room is so special to me and it came out EXACTLY like I pictured. Tzvi's great grandfather came all the way from Baltimore for this portrait.

The big party was today... it was a big success, I will post pictures soon! Not easy saying goodbye to those curls at all...
I will treasure this picture always...what do you guys think?

August at Natural Light Photography

Welcome to a new year everyone! Summer was nice and all, but it feels good to be back to some sort of schedule again. I'm sure many of you feel the same. Little Aryeh kept me pretty busy this summer, (esp at night) but I couldn't stay away from the camera too long and we got some really special summer portraits...

This summer I stayed away from the traditional, classic posing for family portraits and experimented with a more natural, unposed look and the result is my favorite summer photos ever! Summer is all about the carefree, unstructured, no routine, less rules and summer portraits should reflect that. I think these do.

There are too many photos below for me to post comments about each one, I apologize, but really I could say the same thing about every family- your children were adorable and it was my pleasure photographing them!

With Tzvi's upcoming upsherin on my mind, we did a few more pictures of him and his older sister. I have to say that his REAL upsherin portrait was something I'd been keeping in my mind for a whole year now and B"H it came out exactly as I pictured.. Hopefully, I will post it on the next month's blog. It's a very special portrait and it means a lot to me.

Little Aryeh's 4 month photos will also come iy"H next blog but I did include a candid photo so you can see how big he's getting...

Rosh Hashana is next week!! I want to wish everyone a heartfelt ksiva vachasima tova and a gut gibencht yor!!!

I'm slowly preparing myself to part with these curls...here's a few summer portraits of Tzvi...

While this photo doesn't exactly look like Tzvi... a little too exotic and dramatic and Tzvi is all about mischief and the unexpected (LOL), I still really like this photo cuz of the lighting on his hair.

July at Natural Light Photography

We have a bunch of new members receiving this blog, so if this is your first time here- welcome! This is the blog of Aviva Rand Photography in Brooklyn, NY and we post a few photos from each month's sessions and chat a little. Scroll down, see who you recognize... take a look at the archived blogs on the right.. It's fun.

I'm looking at today's date and I can't believe the summer's already half over! NO! It's too fast! I just got my kids' registration packets in the mail and school supplies lists. I do NOT want to think about this yet. Still enjoying the time off, seeing the kids playing so happily outdoors, and the long weekends.
The weather though... OUCH. As my grandma says, "This summer's been without mercy." Hopefully, it'll cool off soon.
Thank you everybody who joined my facebook page. To those that didn't, you still can and I would appreciate it very much if you would.

This sweet little girl is the first baby to proud new parents. They call her their little tomboy and I could see why. She didn't stop moving for a second! I had to put her in a little basket and catch her on the way out!

Delicious!

I remember that face on my twelve month olds...Something about mischief mixed with cuteness mixed with curiousity...

Could this boy be any more gorgeous? Actually, yes, check out his older brother below. I could have snapped photos of these two boys all day.

I did Judah's photos as a nine month old (one of them hangs on my studio wall) and I was thrilled to see that he was just as photogenic at three. Gorgeous.

The Cohens are already good friends of mine. I've photographed this baby's older brothers quite a few times and when a girl was finally born, Mom couldn't wait to dress her in pink and bring her over. Don't you just LOVE that hair?

Big brother Moishy wasn't thrilled about taking pictures, but the mention of ices helped a bit. Aren't those blond curls stunning?

Its the countdown to the big U DAY! (Upsherin). Not till October, iy"H, but I get sick in my stomach thinking about cutting off those curls. So we're gonna be doing LOTS of pictures of Tzvi as we head down to the fall. Here's the first set.

Big sister Ita didn't want to be left out, so although we didn't plan or dress for portraits, we jumped her in front of the camera and let her do her own thing.. She's so yummy - I could do her pictures all day.

That's all for now! Don't forget about facebook and about the portraits sale! Have a safe summer everyone!
