New Coffee Table Books!

(The Photos from June are right after this post, just scroll down)
I had such a wonderful experience this month with the Sash family and their adorable 3-month old son, Reuven. Rather than doing the traditional studio session, I was invited down to the Sash home to take Reuven's portraits in his natural setting. We did a lovely series of warm, intimate baby photos using available light. Both Reuven's parents joined him for some special Mommy/Baby &; Daddy/Baby poses.
It was the perfect family to try out my brand new Coffee Table Books on! These 10x10books are just magnificient. Printed using one of the highest-rated coffee-table book printers in America, these open completely flat and are available in a number of gorgeous paper styles including pearl, UV coated, and Standard Semi Gloss. The covers also come in a variety of leather and fabric colors and are just stunning.
The Sash family opted to take their favorite photo of Reuven and wrap it around their leather book in a customized dust-jacket. Magnifico!
I would love to create one for your new baby, your son's upsherin, daughter's bat-mitzvah, or - another popular idea - your baby's first year. Let's work together and put your memories on paper.
Anyway, this project from start to finish took a few weeks and I'm almost sad to see it go- I've enjoyed working on it so much. The Sash family was nice enough to allow me to display some of the pages in a little video I've made for you, so just go ahead and click play below and enjoy! Please share your comments; I'd love to hear from you.

June at Natural Light Photography

Sorry this update is so late, I know- we're already 10 days into July. My apologies. Things got pretty hectic at the end of July, what with finishing up the school year. Reports needed to be handed in, classrooms cleaned out, daycamp items needed to be purchased and labeled.. you get the idea. I'm sure most of you were busy with the same things.
In addition, I was also busy with a few fun things... for one, my birthday. Some pretty neat gifts, and an overpriced and over-caloried dinner later, I'm officially one year older. Although I don't think my kids got the whole "Mommy's birthday" thing, since, on the day of the event, they woke up about an hour and a half earlier than their usual 6 a.m. Plus, by the time 9 a.m. rolled around, I'd already changed the baby's diaper four times. But the day did get better, so..
I'm sure many of you are up in the country already, hopefully settling in and unpacked. I've already booked quite a few Catskill sessions and I'm really looking forward to them. There's nothing like outdoor, summer pictures. I do have a little bit of time left including one or two Sundays, so if you are still interested in summer photos, I would love to speak with you.
We are taking the city folks to the Beach on Thursday morning, July 23rd. I have time left for two more families that day. And just to remind you, in August we are planning a trip to Prospect Park. The scenery there is especially photogenic. A good choice for those of you not going to the country but still interested in "country-like" photos.
My contractors are spending this week and next remodeling the studio! I could not be more excited. I don't even mind the banging and drilling noises that keep interrupting the baby's nap. Let them bang! Let them drill! The studio is gonna have an incredible new look come this September. I've had this image in mind for months already and I can't believe that piece by piece its actually happening. I don't want to give much away, but next year's customers can look forward to a spacious seating area, private dressing room with snacks and beverages, a large open play area for siblings and a whole lot more. Can't wait!
Oh - I almost forgot. This month we have two posts to the blog. See above - I recently completed a month-long project creating a beautiful coffee table book for a family's new baby. See the post "New coffee table books" for more information and enjoy the video of the book's pages.
Have a wonderful summer everybody. They'll be no blog update in August; but I will post photos from the summer sessions hopefully before yom tov. Enjoy!

I was so excited to meet Baby Effie. We did his big brother's baby portraits two years ago and I was thrilled to see that Effie was just as photogenic!

I love how all the dark and light blues complement each other in this portrait.

Effie was so brave... actually, MOM was so brave! But I really wanted this shot and it came out exactly like I pictured. Mom loved it too in the end...

The Schiffmans are old friends. Thier middle son, Mordechai (he's on the left) went to the same two year old playgroup as my Ita. We did a 20x24 gallery wrap of this image and I just got it back from the printer, and its stunning.

We also loved this one, and had a hard time deciding between the two shots. In the end, it was Bubby who chose. We printed a smaller one of this, too.

Devora is another old friend - (see her photo from last year below). She was in a terrific mood for portraits and posed just like a little lady.

Can't you just feel her adorable personality?

Devora was very interested in my butterflies... can you tell?

(This is Devora's baby photo from last year - I still love it..) Devora's growing up, but she's only getting cuter!

I guess June was the month for returning families! The Cohens have come many times for portraits of their two adorable boys.. but this little baby girl Rose is brand new! Avigayil- I couldn't be happier for you and she is just beautiful.

After two boys, we couldn't wait to get out the pink! She should give you guys only joy and happiness; there's nothing like a girl.

Natural Light Photography is going national! The Pollacks came ALL the way from Cleveland!

As soon as I saw these 4, I was thrilled- they're all so gorgeous!

Shana is 4 and although she wasn't so excited about the whole picture idea, she came through in the end, and we got some really beautiful pictures. She's just adorable.

Sometimes the photos you get by accident are the best ones. Hence this one of Baby Azriel. I liked it so much I had to make another copy for the studio.

A little more classic... just as cute.

Mattisyahu was a natural. With those big eyes, how could we go wrong?

Daniella loved our Designer Background. She came the day before she was leaving to camp. Have a great summer, D!

Did I mention that these children's mother is the mega-talent behind the company Booyah Baby? I'm sure many of you already own one of their stunning stroller liners or baby blankets- I have the green and black and I'm a big fan! This baby photo will go on the company's website to help market one of their products.
That's all for now, Be sure to check out my next post, and have a healthy, happy, SAFE summer!
